Learn How To Build An Online MLM Sales Funnel & Establish Yourself as an Expert!

In this article, we're going to teach you how to build an online MLM sales funnel and how sales funnels can help you grow your network marketing business by positioning you as an expert in the profession.

Now, if you don't know what a sales funnel is that's totally okay. I didn't either when I got started online. Here's the gist. There's really two ways to build your business.

  • The first way is by finding people that want to build businesses and promote the product and services that your company does just like you do. Finding business partners that's the first way.
  • The second way is to find customers that want to consume the product or service that you offer. You can go after business builders and you can go after customers.

An online sales funnel promotes one of those two things and depending on how you build it will determine the type of leads and traffic you put into that funnel and how successful that funnel is. Your sales funnel and all the copywriting, all the text, all the images and everything else in that funnel needs to be congruent with the message that you're delivering and the offer that you're promoting.

The truth is, this article would need to be 10,000 plus words in order to teach you everything. How To Build An Online MLM Sales Funnel –¬†First Steps

Basically, the shortest version of an online sales funnel is a sales page or an opt-in page, also known as a landing page or squeeze page, with some sort of offer.sales funnel

Let's say you offer a health product like a supplement that helps with weight loss. You would be going after, if you're going to use that in your sales funnel on the first page, you would be going after customers.

Your first page would either be a sales page promoting that supplement, and you would want

  • images
  • good headlines
  • bullet points that give the benefits and features of that supplement
  • and then something that capture the contact information of the person that came to that page.

You could either

A) try to sell it to them right away


B) get them on an email list and on that email list, you could remarket the product to them in case you didn't buy and the disappeared.

I would recommend getting them on an email list, because then you can remarket to them if they decide not to buy. You have an asset there. You're building an asset. On top of that, if you have future offers that are congruent to that, you can market those to them as well. The second way is to create a sales page for that supplement in your online MLM sales funnel.

Then just try to sell it to them via a sales/order page right there on that same page.

Now, once a person either leaves their information or makes the order, you're going to send them to the second page in the funnel. That second page can be a number of things. The simplest version is a thank you page.

A thank you page would be, “Hey, thank you for buying my health supplement. My name's Jason Lee. You're going to find incredible value, get great results in that supplement. Make sure when it arrives on your doorstep, you open it up, read the instructions, maybe hear some tips on what to do with it, and how to get the best use out of it. Stay tuned for more helpful tips in your inbox.”

By that point, you'll have captured their email information whether or not they bought on a sales page or whether they just opted in on a squeeze page.

Something for free

Now, if you're just using a squeeze page simply where you're going to collect their email, it's best to give them something for free. It's also called a lead magnet. You can give them an e-book. You can give them a free mini video series or audio series, what ever's going to help you move that product. That's the simple customer version of an online MLM sales funnel (network marketing sales funnel).


Now, if you wanted to go after a distributor, there's some common tried and true ways that work. They're tested, battle tested and they work.

You can either go one or two routes. You can go after specific niches like real estate agents, nurses, teachers, and you can speak to those people specifically on whatever their pain points are with their job. Or you can go after existing network marketers that either may not be happy in their current company, because they're looking around. They've been in it for years and they haven't had success or maybe network markers that have been out of their company, and they're looking, they're just open, right?

Our company recently helped a partner of ours find a global master distributor. They're in the works right now of placing that master distributor in this company. I can't give you names and details and whatnot, but that would be the idea. This master distributor, potential master distributor has been in the market for well over a year looking for the right place to plant their flag. They're out there. They're out there. There's plenty of them out there, plenty of examples of that.

Is your company giving adequate MLM training?

The way that would work into an online sales funnel for your network marketing business would be something along the lines of a headline that says, “Attention struggling network marketer, have you been out of the industry for 10 years, never found success? Or have you've been out of your company for X number of days? You loved the industry, but you never found success, maybe because,” and then some bullet points.

  • You got no upline support.
  • Your company didn't know anything about marketing.
  • The videos were lousy.
  • The tools were lousy.
  • The training systems and live events maybe were just a bunch ho-rah-rah, get you excited.

Then you left, and you didn't really have any actionable things that you can implement to grow your business.

Training in Network Marketing

There's a lot of pain points out there in the network marketing profession, primarily because the field is required to teach itself. That's the biggest downfall to this profession is that the field is required to teach yourself. In most instances, the companies don't do that.

In most instances the companies, they focus on creating a great product, they focus on logistics, they focus on operations, moving that product, keeping the company profitable, making sure the comp plan's fair, keeping the company out of legal trouble, all those things.

That's what the companies do.

They leave it the field to grow, train their own, that sort of thing. An old colleague of mine called it “We're like the warlords of Afghanistan. We're a bunch of tribal nations. Nobody's doing things really the same, but there's some things that if you do, they work time and time again.”

How To Build An Online MLM Sales Funnel – Know Your Target Market

There are some definite pain points that you can point out on the first page of your sales page or squeeze page to collect the name and email. You can offer people an e-book on how to generate leads. That's really common. That's really powerful, because everybody struggles with leads.

You can offer an e-book or a video series and an audio series for example on how to find prospects online, on YouTube, on Facebook, on Twitter, on LinkedIn, on Craigslist, whatever it might be, or how to find prospects or leads in the cold market without going to people you know, without hassling friends and family, without all those pain points that common network marketers struggle with.

Now, if you're going to create a squeeze page for your online MLM sales funnel for somebody that's never been exposed to network marketing like a real estate agent that said, “I don't know what network marketing is,” or maybe think they do, but they don't really know, then you would have to go at it from a different angle.

Their pain points are different than a struggling network markers pain points or a top earners pain points who left their previous company. Understand you need to put yourself in the shoes of the lead that you're trying to generate and then craft your first page and your first offer and cater it to that type of lead.

Get the traffic

Then it's just a matter of finding that traffic. You don't need to be traffic expert, you just need to know where to go and who to go to to get the traffic and then drive the traffic to that first page.

For a real estate agent, for example, it might be, because I know quite a few real estate agents, it might be something along the lines of “Do you love real estate, but perhaps not the long hours or showing homes on the weekends or being away from your family and your kids to close a deal when you'd rather be spending time with them or perhaps you don't like the fluctuations in the market that tend to control your income, making it inconsistent?”

In a down market things can suck for real estate agents.

You can hit on those pain points, and you can say, “Look, I don't know if this is you, but if you're open to looking at a profession where you can take your real estate skills and produce an income without a cap on your ceiling then leave your name and information, download this e-book or we'll give you this free audio series or this free video series or this free e-book on how to do exactly that and take your real estate skills, plug them in over here and make as much money as you want.” That would be a great offer for real estate agents who don't know anything about network marketing. You capture their info.

The Follow Up

Then on the email follow-ups, and the video after that that they give them or the e-book after that, that you give them, you expose them to your business. You put them into whatever your tools or systems are for explaining network marketing to them.

You shouldn't have to explain network marketing to them. In an online sales funnel for network marketing, you should let the tools and the videos and the resources do all the heavy lifting for you. If they're not doing a good job, then your tools or your resources that are supposed to be doing the heavy lifting are broken. You need to own it and just create some yourself. Get with an upline, get with somebody who knows how to do a little bit of video marketing, create some of that stuff, and let that stuff do the heavy lifting for you.
