Here's nine tips to build an Amway business fast

We're going to be discussing how to build your Amway business at light speed, like mach two with your hair on fire, as Richard Bliss Brooke would say. Because you will want to build an Amway business fast.

Build an Amway business fast tip #1: You need to determine how you want to build your business.

In other words, you need to take ownership of your business.

  • How do you want to build it?
  • What do you want your business to look like?

That is a very, very important question.

I don't know how much you know about me. My name's Jason Lee.

About a decade ago I was involved with Amway. My wife and I didn't see alignment with the way we wanted to build our business at the time, with the way Amway's rules and regulations were laid out and what our training platform was teaching us to do; so we parted ways and stepped away from the industry for quite some time, established our own internet marketing company, became very successful in the business world, and then came back into the industry only a few years ago to do some very, very incredible things.

But we took ownership of our business and built it the way we wanted to build it.

Now that's not to say that you can't do what we did inside of Amway provided the rules allow it. But for us, at the time, almost a decade ago, it didn't allow it.

Now, here's what you need to understand.

It's your business.

At the end of the day it's not your upline's business, it's not your training program's business, it's not even Amway's business. It's your business.

Determine how you want it to look. Determine how you want to build it. Then own that. Own that.

Build an Amway business fast tip #2: You need an accountability partner

Once you've determined how you want your business to be built and how you want it to look in terms of marketing and structure and day to day activities, daily operations is what we call it, we need to move onto tip number two, which is establish an accountability partner.

You need to establish accountability. Because, if you don't, you're only accountable to yourself, and accountability doesn't really exist when you're only accountable to yourself.

Normally your upline would be your accountability partner, but what you need to consider is the way you're going to build your business, if you decide as an independent business owner that you're going to build your business a certain way and your upline is not in alignment with that, then your upline probably is not going to make a good accountability partner.

Now am I telling you to break ways with your upline or anything like that?

No, I'm not.

What I'm telling you is you do not need your upline to be your accountability partner.

There's a number of individuals out there that run accountability programs. They're generic consultants in the industry.

You can check out Todd Falcone at toddfalcone.com. He runs an excellent accountability program. You can do something like that. There are plenty of network marketing professionals and consultants that you can partner with as accountability partners and still get the job done.

What's an accountability partner do?

  • They look at your activities.
  • They check in with you once a week.
  • They ask you questions about what you've done and how many calls you've made.
  • They help you break down the barriers if any exist as to why you're not getting results.

Because if you're not getting results, you need to be accountable to someone so that they can help shine a light on the real problem and help you break through that wall so that you can get results.

One of my mentors, Tim Sales, says, “

We don't want that to go on. The way to fix that is through accountability. Make sure you get an accountability partner that aligns with the way that you want to build your business.

Super, super important.

Build an Amway business fast tip #3: Fire your upline as quickly as possible.

I know what you're thinking. “Wait, wait, wait, Jason. You're telling me to fire my upline? You're telling me to leave my training program? You're telling me to do all this stuff?”

No, I'm not telling you that. When I say fire your upline, what I'm telling you is you need to become independent from your upline as quickly as possible, meaning you need to take full ownership of your business and understand that it's your business. It's not your upline's business. It's not Amway's business. It's not your training program's business. I don't know what training program you are in. You might be in Britt Worldwide. You might be in … there was one called Netscape something … There's plenty of training programs worldwide. Dream Builders is another program; I think one of the biggest in Amway in North America.

There are plenty of training programs out there, but what you need to understand is you need to become independent from your upline as quickly as possible.

Let me ask you this question.

If you sponsored 20 people in the next 30 days, do you think it would make your upline happy?

Absolutely, because that's what drives the needle. It drives the revenue. Not just recruiting, but moving products. If you sponsored 20 business builders that went out and found customers and built businesses just like you did, do you think that would make your upline happy? Absolutely. I hope it would. Because it's what drives the needle. It's what produces measurable results in your business.

As a business owner, which I am … I run a digital marketing company. We have about a hundred clients.

We do really, really well.

We're always measuring our results based on revenue.

We want to know what's our cost and what's our revenue. What's our net profit? What's our cash-flow look like? Those are questions that you really need to dial in on and answer if you're going to consider yourself a real business owner. Otherwise, you're just a field rep. You're a product-slinging field rep, and that's not what you should be.

If you got in this business to take advantage of the leveraged concepts that it provides, then you need to start treating it like a business and understand that there's more to it than just going out and throwing a spear at people and throwing a net over, and I'm trying to get them into your business.

There's a lot more to it than that.

It's not complicated. Don't panic now. It's not complicated, okay?

That's tip number three: Become independent from your upline as quickly as possible, especially if you find a way to build your business that works and it duplicates.

I will tell you right now, there's a lot of teaching and training out there that says the online method does not duplicate, it does not work. I know 10 people personally in my company that are full-time that built their businesses right out of their home office.

There's plenty of ways to make it work now with the internet. You have webinars, you have Skype, you have web conferencing, communication methods that are both ways, not just one way.

It works.

There's too many success stories now to say that it doesn't work. It works.

If that's a method that you want to build by, go ahead and pursue it, figure it out, find a mentor that can teach you, and then become independent and do it. Produce results with it and prove them wrong.

DSA.org, Direct Selling Association.org, has statistics on this.

10 to 15% of the industry right now builds their business online, solely online. That's a high percentage, meaning it works, or that percentage wouldn't be there. It would just go up and drop off as soon as people figured out that it didn't work.

Now, with that being said, 80% of the industry still is built offline. It's still built relationship-based, belly to belly, face to face, 80%. Understand 70% of the industry is the female demographic. Most of this industry is comprised of women, and it's comprised of women that build their business face to face, belly to belly. Keep that in mind. Offline, nothing can replace face to face, in person, in real life. Nothing can replace that. But you can be successful online if that's something you want to do. Don't cast it out just because someone told you to cast it out.

Do your own research. Do your own due diligence and figure out whether or not it's going to work for you based on what you can and can't do within your company, within Amway. That's tip number three. Tip number three is become independent.

Own your business.

Own your results.

Build an Amway business fast tip #4: Set goals

You need to set goals for your business so you can understand what it is you have to do to get there.

When I say set goals, I don't mean sponsor six people a month, or talk to two people a day, or sponsor 12 people in the next six months.

That's not a real goal.

A real goal in business has numbers attached to it financially.

What moves the needle?

Here's how I would set a goal if I were you. 12 months from now, you should determine how much you want to be making on an annual basis. Is it 50,000 a year? Is it 60,000 a year, 70,000 a year?

What is it?

Define it.

Then, if your upline doesn't know or your trading platform can't help you, call customer service and figure out what the averages are based on how many people, customers, you need in your business moving volume on a monthly basis to get that kind of a commission.

That's what you should do.

Let's say, for example, it takes 300 people. I don't know what the number is. I'm just giving you this as an example. Let's say you find out you want to make $50,000 a year 12 months from now and it takes 300 people on autoship, I guess, or 300 customers purchasing 100 points worth of product a month to get there. Now you have a number, a goal that you can march towards. You need 300 people in the next 12 months to do it. 300 divided into 12 is some number. I don't know the exact number. It's probably 27, 28, or something like that. That means you need to acquire 27 to 28 customers/or business builders per month over the next year to hit your goal.

Now you can break it down to weeks.

Seven people a week, I guess. You need to bring seven customers/business builders into your business per week, now per day, so one a day. What you really need to do is break it down to daily actionable steps. How many people do you need to talk to and show your business presentation to to acquire one new customer or business builder per day? Is it five? Is it 10? Is it 15? I don't know, but you can calculate that based on conversions and your skill set.

Your skill set, when you do enough phone calls, when you talk to enough people, it will improve and you'll begin to see a ratio that appears. It will manifest itself in the form of results, meaning you'll talk to 10, seven will say no, three will say, “I'll look at your deal.” Then those three you show the Amway business presentation to, and out of those three, one signs up.

Now you have your real number: 15 or whatever it is. You need to figure out what the real number is. If you want to be a real business builder and you want to build a real Amway business, you need to know what those numbers are. Every business owner in the world knows their numbers; you should too.

Build an Amway business fast tip #5: Figure out a lead generation strategy

Tip number five is figure out one lead generation strategy for your Amway business that works for you and stick to it.

If that lead generation strategy is talking to 10 new people per day through BNI groups in your local area, or chamber of commerce meanings, however you're going to generate those leads, you need to figure out a way to do it and then stick with that method.

If it requires two methods because you don't generate enough leads with the first, that's fine, but you need to pick one or two lead generation strategies that work and then implement them over and over and over again to get the results you're after.

You will know what the conversions are based on what that strategy is once you do enough activity of it. Typically 10 to 20 to 30 times, somewhere around 20, after 20 contacts, 20 approaches with that lead generation strategy, you will get a ratio.

You will start to see a conversion.

Then you'll be able to determine whether or not it's a conversion you like and whether or not you want to continue implementing it in your business to get to that goal you set 12 months down the road.

That is tip number five: Pick a lead generation strategy that works and execute it.

Once a week, you should be checking in with your accountability partner and letting them know what you did. We use an Excel spreadsheet. We have it all mapped out. Our team has accountability partners and everybody checks everybody based on who your partner is. Whoever you're accountable to will check your activity is how it's supposed to work. Pick a lead generation strategy that works and execute it.

Your Amway business will begin to grow, I promise you.

Build an Amway business fast tip #6: Engage in a personal development activity every day

For at least 30 minutes, guys and gals, at least 30 minutes.build an amway downline online

That means pick up a book. Don't be afraid to go outside of whatever your training program is telling you. Because a lot of training programs out there, they make a lot of their revenue based on selling you their recommended books list because they have partnerships with those authors.

That's okay, that's fine. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm not against building an audience and selling value to that audience.

That's what business is all about.

There's nothing wrong with that, but don't be afraid to go outside of that recommended list and purchase additional books outside of that list if there's something else you want to learn.

For example, if your training program doesn't teach you YouTube marketing, you're going to need to go outside of your program and go to Amazon or something and order a book on YouTube marketing and learn how the create a YouTube channel, and cut videos, and upload them to YouTube, and write out a good description, and write out tags for that video so that people can look it up easily, and then you can start getting views, and people can start reaching out to you.

The concept's called attraction marketing.

It's pretty cool.

Anyway, don't be afraid to go outside and go lateral and learn new things; personal development, 30 minutes a day minimum. That is that tip. Let's do a few more. I kind of lost count but I think we're on tip number six, so tip number six. If I'm wrong and it's supposed to be tip number seven, you just got a bonus.

Build an Amway business fast bonus tip #6: Engage in physical activity daily

I recommend at least 20 to 30 minutes. Even if it's just to get your heart rate up. Because that blood flowing through your body and that exercise, and building muscle, and all that stuff, it empowers your mind.build an amway downline fast

You're exercising your brain when you exercise your body. If you engage in physical activity daily, just 20 to 30 minutes … Even if you don't have time to go to the gym, at the top of every hour do as many push-ups and sit-ups as you can. Or set a number and break that goal at the top of every hour.

You'll be amazed.

Those five minutes that you spend doing that at the top of every hour will stack up. You'll start to get results. You'll have more energy. That energy will transmit itself into activity in your business. It all goes hand in hand.

Your Amway business will grow, I promise you.

Build an Amway business fast tip #7: Get on an eating plan

For tip number seven, do your best on this, and it can help build an Amway business fast.

If you're in a health company like Amway, you probably have products that will help you. Get on, not a diet, but an eating plan that …

When I say diet, your mind probably goes to crash diets, starvation, and things like that when you use the word diet.

What diet really means is what type of food and liquid you're bringing into your body.

You could have a diet of cupcakes. It's not a good way to eat but your diet could be cupcakes. For purposes of the word diet, when I say that, get yourself on an eating regimen that begins to change your biochemistry. Because if you start eating right and eating healthy, it will also do things up here in your brain that helps you with all your other activities.

  • You'll process quicker.
  • You'll innovate faster.
  • You'll execute more effectively.
  • You'll be engaged.

When you pick up the phone to call a lead, you'll respond better.

You won't be sluggish and slow.

Your energy will go up.

So will the way in which you non-verbally present yourself and verbally present yourself to other people, which transfers itself to positive results in your business. If you know Tony Robbins and you watch anything he does, he's living proof of that. You should see what he does before an event. He gets up, he has this regimen he goes through every day.

It's crazy. Most people would call it crazy. I think it's incredible. Most people would consider it crazy, though. You could see the results he's able to get at his events by doing what he does. A huge part of that is physical and a huge part of that is diet, meaning what he puts into his body.

Build an Amway business fast tip #8: Use a script

If you don't know what a script is, here's what a script is. It is a written page. It only has to be a page, or two at most, with a process that you're going to go through on the phone when you talk to a lead.

Every lead you call on the phone to invite to your Amway presentation should be qualified.

Qualified meaning they have a reason that they would want to look at your presentation.

That reason could be, “My kids are in daycare. I want to get them out. I hate my job. I hate my boss.” I don't know what it is, but as long as they have a hot button, meaning a reason that they would say yes to your business in the first place, then they're a qualified lead.

I highly recommend you only call qualified leads or your time on the phone is going to be very, very painful, and you want to build an Amway business fast.

When you pick up the phone, you're going to use a script. If you don't have one, write one out. Scripts are simply this. It's a he said, she said; or a they said, you said flow of information based on how that phone call's going to go. It would be you, because you're making the call. You would have the first line. It would be something along the lines of this. “Hey, John. Jason Lee here. We met the other day. Just calling you to see if you have a minute. Do you have a second to chat?”

Then the next thing on the script would be lead, and then in quotes, “Yes.” If they say yes, you respond this way; if they say no, you respond this way. It's broken down.

You can actually create a script that is accurate enough to account for every scenario on the phone.

Because there's only about 10.

There's only about 10 scenarios you'll ever hear on the phone on a call, on what's called an invite call, before they run out of things to say. Most of the time, on an invite call, there's only three things they're going to say.

The biggest one is, “What is it?” At some point they're going to hit you with, “What is it?” on the call, and you have to be able to respond to that.

There are ways to respond to that that don't open the whole can of worms and give them the whole bucket, and allow them to prejudge your business opportunity before they have a chance to see the material that you have in presentation form for them. I don't know what that is.

It could be a video, could be a PDF, could be a PowerPoint presentation.

Use a script, and your Amway business will grow like crazy.

If you do that, and you learn the script, and you use it religiously, you'll have great success, I promise you.

Build an Amway business fast tip #9: Stretch yourself

Get out of your comfort zone.

I highly recommend by doing that you learn an internet marketing strategy that works. It could be as simple as Facebook prospecting. There's a number of them that work that are very simple and they're what's called active marketing techniques, meaning you can go on there and do it every day to build an Amway business fast.

You're not relying upon someone else to do it.

It can be taught.

I have friends that are top earners in this profession that have sponsored … well not sponsored, but have 50,000+ people on their team. They did that all through Facebook prospecting, and their team duplicates and grows every year.

You can't tell me it doesn't work.

Stretch yourself and grow to build an Amway business fast.

Look into something like that and incorporate that in your business and see if it gets results for you.

It's just another tool to communicate. If you do it right and you use the principles that work in this profession, your Amway business is going to grow, and hopefully you will just come back and thank me for it.

Because I promise you the revenue's going to show up.

Don't forget to measure your results.

Don't forget to establish an accountability partner.

Stay busy, break it down into daily actionable steps, and report to your accountability partner once a week.

Use a lead generation strategy that works and just hammer that thing again and again again.

Trust me, if you're afraid, if you're nervous, that's okay.

I was too in the beginning, but it goes away. It eventually goes away.

Nobody knows when, but it goes away. It did for me and it will for you.
